Fantastic Friday

So here I am... My last day of work. There is a sense of excitement which covers a little bit of sadness. I have been reminiscing a lot lately, about my time... and I am so proud of myself for the person I have become.

Taken it back four and half year ago, I walked into this building, in awe of the stature (tallest building in the city).  I had just gotten married and this was my second job and I felt as though as I was on top of the world. I developed friendships that had transcended the work environment.  Individuals, that even after they had left, I still communicate and visit.  Those relationships are what got me through the divorce and allowed me to be who I am today.

I look back fondly on this experience, as I can't help but to think that I grew up here. It's almost as if, I learned the lessons in business that I needed to gain. I gained maturity and understood the best way to approach different situations.  It was my training ground.  It also allowed me to live a great life.  I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Slovakia to perform and Audit. I am so very grateful for that experience. The friendships I have with my Slovakian counterparts is something I will forever treasure.

As I move on my career, I will carry those experiences with me and build upon them.

I realize how truly blessed I have been with the company I have been. I believe that is why today is so bittersweet. So for today, we will celebrate the good times and the friendships we have built. For April 10th, is the dawning of a new day for me.

I started this job feeling like I was on top of the world... I felt like I had lost everything... and I'm leaving feeling that life could not get much better than it is right now. That is my definition of success.

Thank you for all of those who have been on  this journey with me.

Take it easy.

Weekly Words To Inspire

So it begins.. my final week at Steel. I cannot believe my career here is finally coming to an end. However, I spent my final weekend in style. Saturday I celebrated St. Paddy's day in Pittsburgh. I don't think I've ever celebrated St. Paddy's day without a coat on! This weather is amazing. Yesterday was just gorgeous.  It's a great way to start off the Spring season! I was blessed with the opportunity it begin my running outside last week during lunch. I forgot how good those runs are for the soul.
Have a great week!

Courage takes many forms. There is physical courage, there is moral courage. Then there is a still higher type of courage--the courage to brave pain, to live with it, to never let others know of it and to still find joy in life; to wake up in the morning with an enthusiasm for the day ahead.

Weekly Words To Inspire

What a fabulous weekend. The weather has been amazing and it looks for the next week we should have some spring time temperatures! Whoop! Summer is going to be here before we now it. I still can’t believe in two weeks I will no longer be employed by this corporation! Life is really crazy the way it works out. I hope everything can enjoy this week!

Fantastic Friday!!!!!!

Today is truly a Fantastic Friday.

This week has been crazy nuts. It started out by my computer's hard drive crashing 6:40 Monday morning. Isn't that the best way to start a week?! However, later that morning, I received a phone call that changed the course of my life!

My word for the year was "Fail." Well, mid-January I was contacted by a recruiter for the 3rd time regarding a new opportunity.  It almost seemed to good to be true.  But staying true to my word, I was going to do interview for the job. Well, 2 months later, I put in my resignation at my current employer.

I've obviously reflected on my experiences here and I am truly grateful for the opportunities I have had. I have really grown up, in literally every way possible in the 4.5 years I've been here. I began as newlywed and I'm leaving as the strongest I have ever been.  I have learned so many lessons in this company, professionally, I've grown, I started with only a year of audit experience, I ended with 4 years plus a certification. I've met individuals from the mill to the CEO. I have friends in Gary, Texas, Birmingham, and Slovakia. I was lucky enough to visit both Canada and Slovakia as well as many of our domestic plants.

As I was talking to an individual yesterday about my decision. I'm not leaving on bitter terms and this is not an ugly break up. I have just found an opportunity that better fits my current needs and desires.
I won't lie, I've been through a slew of emotions this week. However, it wasn't until yesterday when I talked with 2 of my co-workers who worked with my future director in the past (He worked at my company 20 years ago), and had nothing but great things to say about him.  I found comfort in their thoughts and opinions. I keep hearing from the people around me that I will excel at this new company. I am now beginning to believe it. I talked to my new manager yesterday and she was so kind and we got along very well. My fears have subsided for the moment.

So starting April 9th, I will be working for another billion dollar international manufactoring company... and I couldn't be more excited!

Now it is time to say good-bye to the people I have worked with, who have helped me grow and develop both personally and professional. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to do that with.

On a totally different note.
I went crazy this week and bought tickets for the Dave Matthews Band concerts for BOTH nights.
Honestly, I couldn't be more excited about this either as one of the nights it's going to be just my sister and I. If you think I haven't been listening to Dave all week, you'd be crazy. July can't come soon enough!

Well, that's all I have to say for today. It's not time to start the spreading of the news.

Have a fabulous weekend!
