Weekly Words To Inspire

The Last Week of February.. and we get an extra day! I wish I could say I watched the Oscar's last night, but I didn't. I'm in the midst of watching the Cheer's series. Which is, by the way, so much funnier than I remembered. What an absolutely great TV show.
Have a great week!

Weekly Words To Inspire

It's the last full week of February! It still doesn't feel like winter to me.  In fact, other than the trees having no leaves and flowers not blooming, it kind of reminds me of spring.  For those who are off today because it's President's Day, I am jealous of you!

Two songs that I enjoy in celebration:

And how could we forget.... This Gem::

A man's character never changes radically from youth to old age. What happens is that circumstances bring out characteristics which have not been obvious to the superficial observer.

Hesketh Pearson

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning.
Frederick Douglass

When something tragic happens, it's a rude awakening that life doesn't go exactly the way we plan. You grow up faster and realize part of life's beauty is that it isn't all planned, that there are many unknowns. Nothing's guaranteed, but you have to live. You can't just walk through life, you have to actually embrace it and go after it.

White Chocolate!

If you watch American Idol last night, you know what I'm taking about... Adam Brock, bring the "White Chocolate" to American Idol!

Here's the clip of him singing "Georgia On My Mind"

Earlier in the show he jammed with Steven Tyler. That is so incredibly nuts. I'm so jealous.

Sending my best wishes for Adam.

Have a great day!

You are now free to move about the country!

Thank you Southwest!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I just bought a plane ticket. I plane ticket that should have cost me over $500 but only cost me $74. Thank you Southwest. I did something I never do, I applied for a credit card specifically to get a free flight to Vegas. Well, not free, it cost me SOME money, but I'd rather take the 74 than the 500 and some. Yes I know it hurts my credit score, but not enough for me to worry.

Why did I buy a ticket?
Because 2 of my friends, who happen to be twins, happen to have the same B-day as me and they are celebrating theirs in Vegas. Seeing how I've never been, I'm going. I. Cannot. Wait.

Yay.

Take it easy.

Weekly Words To Inspire

What a weekend! The Geno has been unbelievable. Stall returned. Letang continues his path. If we don't win the cup this year, I will absolutely be stunned. There is no reason for us to not win. I saw the movie 'Safe House' yesterday. Had to laugh when buying the tickets, I got carded. After she saw my age she felt really bad for carding me and explained that I do not look anywhere near close to my age. Who gets carded seeing a rated "R" movie!?!??!?! Anyways... Here are the words for the week... with the loss of Whitney this weekend, I've added one of my favorite songs of hers.

To hate is to show you still care, who needs that, focus on what's really important.
- Henry Rollins

You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him discover it in himself.
- Galileo Galilei

A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.
- Hugh Downs

Rest assured, this will be repeated in future conversations!
I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
- James R. Hoffa (Jimmy)

From one of my all-time favorites from Whitney Houston…

I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

Take it easy.

Hollywood Baby!

This year, I'm actually starting to watch Amercican Idol. This is something I haven't done since, I don't know, college? The reason why I'm watching it, is due to a high school friend is on. He was highlighted last night.  This boy could always sing, like ALWAYS sing.  He is just one of the most genuine, honest, good person. For our class, who has had so much tragedy, it's nice to finally see something go right for someone.

His name is Adam Brock.
Here's the video from last night:

So excited for what is in store for him. Best wishes!

Weekly Words To Inspire

Well the football season is officially over. Brady didn't win the Superbowl... So I guess that is the most we can ask for at this point. Occupy Pittsburgh should be removed from their site soon.  I noticed this morning that a lot of tents have left, but others have been put up. Weird? I believe so. The Civic Arena looks like another piece of the roof should fall soon. :(  However, I should be receiving my ornament soon! Whoop!
Have a good week!

Fantastic Friday

Last night, in honor of Groundhog Day, one of my best friends and I attended a viewing of Groundhog Day. I don't believe I've seen that in years and I can honestly say, I laughed so much.  Man do I miss Bill Murray. Obviously we are a little partial to the movie as it is about a tradition that is so close to home. But I have to say, it was a great experience.

Additionally, this theater is showing Monty Python and the Holy Grail next week.
She's never seen it. I know, I can't believe it either.

Seriously - find a theater that plays old movies, there is nothing like it. I've seen more old movies in the last 3 years than I have seen new movies in the theaters. There is just something about seeing these classics.

"Watch out for the first step. It's a doozy!"

Take it easy and have a great weekend!
