Weekly Words To Inspire

I'm finally back from California... Although, I think it took a little piece of my heart. I had an absolutely lovely time. I was able to meet some incredibly people. I got home friday night and went straight to Toby... Toby was pretty good. It never ceases to amaze me how many hits he actually has released.  Saturday I did the Ruckus at the Washington Fairgrounds... It was an experience unlike anything I've ever done... and now I'm pushed to continue working out.. because I never felt so strong. I spent Sunday with my family celebrating the future wedding of my cousin.  I'm struggling hard with the jet lag. Hopefully, I'll get back on track soon. But until that time, I am happy knowing that I have a California tan! Have a fantastic week!

Life only demands from you the strength that you possess. Only one feat is possible; not to run away.
Dag Hammarskjold

I think we too often make choices based on the safety of cynicism, and what we're leat to is a life not fully lived. Cynicism is fear, and it's worse than fear - it's active disengagement.
Ken Burns

A true fiend freely, advises justly, assists readily, adventures boldly, takes all patiently, defends courageously, and continues a friend unchangeably.
William Penn

I've learned you can make a mistake and the whole world doesn't end.  I had to learn to allow myself to make a mistake without becoming defensive and unforgiving.
Lisa Kudrow

One thing I've learned; You never know where life is taking you, but it's taking you.

Weekly Words To Inspire

I'm baaaack! Well, I'm still in California, but my life is a little more put together than last week. I have been here for a week, and can honestly say, I'm loving it. I understand the fascination with Cali.  I'm lucky to have gotten to do a ton of touristy things, which has made the trip so worth it. The list of things include running up the trail behind the Hollywood Sign (which, that is a HUGE hill!) , I've gone to Santa Monica.. I ran the path from Santa Monica down to Venice beach (yes, the people watching is the best I've ever witnessed!), I drove up to Malibu on route 1... I've been to Hollywood... Drove through Beverly Hills.. Let's just say, this week has been awesome.  I'll be a little sad to leave this week. I'll try to post pictures after my trip

Here are the words for this week.

Kindness, I've discovered, is everything in life.
Isaac Bashevis

Integrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in thewind or change with the weather. It is your inner image of yourself, and if youlook in there and see a man who won't cheat, then you know he never will.
-John D. MacDonald

The best way to win an argument is to begin by being right.
-William Ruckelshaus

Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.
-George Bernard Shaw

“I have seen what a laugh can do. It can transform almostunbearable tears into something bearable, even hopeful.”

Weekly Words To Inspire

Well Hello there July, it's nice to see you and the heat... I hope everyone's last week was good. I did complete my 5k. It wasn't pretty, but it was completed. Recently, I've gotten back into watching documentaries on Netflix. This time about food. So that's pretty much what has inspired this week's words. The common theme I get from everything I read and watch is that we have to educate ourselves. We cannot leave it up to the government or to Dr's to tell us what to do. It's up to us. I've read and watched some fascinating things in the last week. So if you want to know more, let me know. But I thought these quotes were pretty motivational.

"Those who do not find time for exercise will have to find time for illness."
- Edward Smith-Stanley

“Just because you’re not sick doesn’t mean you’re healthy”
- Author Unknown

"There is no money in healthy people or dead people. The money is in sick people.
- Bill Maher

'Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food.
- Hippocrates

'The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.
- Thomas Edison

“Every decision we make at the supermarket – what we grow, what we eat – is creating a different future for the land, the farmers, for the diversity of our crops, for the health of our bodies and communities.”
-Fresh

This one really sticks with me for some reason... I guess because I never truly thought of food this way... so bluntly stated.

“The food you eat either makes you morehealthy or less healthy. Those are your options.”
-Hartwigs

Weekly Words To Inspire

So here we are. July... and for some of us, we get Wednesday off. I will be running a 5k on Wednesday morning. If the forecast is accurate, it's going to be a hot one!
The week has been good and busy. My father brought up a new desk for me! Whoop! It's a rolltop desk. I had to say good-bye from the desk I bought my junior year in college. Then I started to think how old the desk and then immediately turned my attention away! I found out to get Sammy to do what you want, if you bribe her, she will do it. So far, I'm out an ice cream bar (because she dove off the diving board, and it actually looked like a dive) and I owe her something else because she played a 'good' game on Saturday. I have a feeling, she will be expensive!

So I finally have finished watching the entire series of Cheers. Man. It's underrated. I will say in the final season it got old. But I just don't see how it doesn't get the recognition for being a great comedy. I have literally laughed to tears in some of the episodes.  The words for this week are taken from the last episode... as well as the series finale of The Wonder Years (which I believe is next on the list) and Roseanne (Mom, I know you hate Roseanne, but it's good I promise. I've already watched this series.)

I wish you all a happy and safe Fourth of July.
I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him. ~ Abraham Lincoln

" I'm not ashamed to admit, what i think we are all feeling. Time goes by so fast. People go in and out of your life. You know, you should never miss an opportunity to tell these people how much they mean to you..."
- Fraiser

"You know something, I hate change. I mean, you know. Everyday you wake up, somethinga change. Everything changes. Changes so fast. I like things to stay the way they are. I like things you can count on."
-Woody

Norm: "You know what I think the most important thing in life is? Love. You want to know what I love?"
Sam: "Beer Norm."
Norm:"Yeah, I'll have a quick one."
Norm: " Sammy,I love that stool! If there’s a heaven, I don’t wanna go there unless my stool is waiting for me. And I tell you what, even God better not be on it. I don’t think it matters what you love, Sammy. Could be a person. Could be a thing. As long as you love it totally, completely, without judgement. You can never be unfaithful to your one true love. You always come back to her."

Couldn't forget the WOnder Years...
"Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house, like a lot of houses. A yard like a lot of other yards. On a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back...with wonder."

Roseanne Series Finale...
"And then Darlene had the baby, and it almost died. I snapped out of the mourning immediately, and all of my life energy turned into choosing life. In choosing life, I realized that my dreams of being a writer wouldn't just come true; I had to do the work. And as I wrote about my life, I relived it, and whatever I didn't like, I rearranged. I made a commitment to finish my story even if I had to write in the basement in the middle of the night while everyone else was asleep. But the more I wrote, the more I understood myself and why I had made the choices I made, and that was the real jackpot. I learned that dreams don't work without action; I learned that no one could stop me but me. I learned that love is stronger than hate. And most important, I learned that God does exist. He and/or She is right inside you, underneath the pain, the sorrow, and the shame. I think I'll be a lot better now that this book is done. "
